St. Nicholas Sunday SchoolChristian Education at St. Nicholas Church

Religious education is a very important ministry here at St. Nicholas Orthodox Church. Our parish operates a Church School Program beginning the first Sunday in October to the last Sunday in May. Religious educational classes are conducted for the youth of the parish from preschool through 12th grade. The students are excused from the Sunday Divine Liturgy after the reception of the Eucharist and the final blessing with the Chalice. Classes are held in the Educational Wing of our Fellowship Hall.

This program includes not only stimulating educational classes but also other activities: arts & crafts, music, games, parties, a Christmas Play, Egg Hunt at Easter, etc. At the conclusion of the school year a special dinner is held to honor the students of the First Confession Class as well as High School and College Graduates. The school also provides Camping Scholarships for the children to attend a weeko f summer camp at Camp Nazareth. Funds are raised from various activities held during the academic year.

Every Advent and Great Lenten liturgical seasons, the students, under the leadership of the pastor and their teachers has a charity project. Clothes and food have been collected and given to those of the area in need. Students are also encouraged to participate in the St. Nicholas Samaritan Outreach when able.

A weekly Orthodox Bible Study Class is held on Saturday afternoons after the Evening Vesper Service, which begins at 4:00 p.m. These classes are conducted by Father Ken and are broadcasted via the Diocesan Website to hundreds of people throughout the Diocese and the world. A special collection of CDs have been made from the first series of Orthodox Bible Study Class on the Gospel of St. Matthew, and are available for purchase. All are invited to join us for the Orthodox Bible Study Class here at St. Nicholas or via the internet!
