May 7, 2018 - Deaconate Ordination of Nathaniel Choma
It is with pride and joy that we announce that the latest son of our parish, Sub Deacon Nathaniel Choma will be Ordained to the Holy Diaconate, by the Ancient Rite of the Laying on of Hands of His Grace, Bishop Gregory of Nyssa, the Ruling Bishop of our Diocese. His Grace, has announced that this will take place at the Hierarchal Divine Liturgy to be served on Tues-day, May 15, 2018 at Christ the Saviour Cathedral in Johnstown, Pennsylvania beginning at 10:00 a.m. that morning! At the conclusion of the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy there will a short commencement exercise at which time the newly ordained Deacon Nathaniel will be awarded the Degree of Bachelor of Theology from Christ the Saviour Orthodox Theological Seminary.
After the Liturgy and the celebratory exercises in the Cathedral all will be invited to the Christ the Saviour Education Center for a Luncheon given in honor of the graduates. All family and guests are invited to attend the Liturgy and the Luncheon and to congratulate the graduates, especially our own, Deacon Nathaniel Choma!
If there is anyone from our parish that would like to attend please kindly inform Father Ken as soon as possible and definitely by next Sunday! We can all meet here in the Church parking lot and leave that morning by 7:00 a.m. and will return mid after-noon that same day. The estimated cost of the luncheon is $10.00 per person.
Father Ken would like to have a nice group from our parish to attend this milestone in the life of our parish son. However, Bishop Gregory did inform Father Ken, at the wedding last week, that the Ordination to the Holy Priesthood would be done in our parish sometime this coming summer. As soon as Father Ken receives the date, he will inform our parish! What an exciting celebration to look forward to in our parish. This would make the sixth vocation from our parish, and all six would have begun their ministry by way of their ordination in our St. Nicholas Church!
